How to Choose a Car Rental Company in Dubai

Dubai has hundreds of rental companies and the cars are much the same. What differs is the company behind the car. Seven checks, most of which take a few minutes, separate a dependable supplier from a risky one.

What should I verify before I contact them?

Start with what you can check yourself.

  • Licence: a real commercial licence number that you can look up with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
  • Address: a physical office, not only a mobile number.
  • Time in business: how long the company has traded under that licence.
  • Reviews: recent reviews on Google, read in full, including the negative ones and how the owner replied.

What should I ask them?

Ask for the rate, deposit, insurance excess and mileage allowance in writing, and ask how tolls and fines are charged. The answers matter, and so does the manner. A company that replies clearly and quickly before you pay is likely to behave the same way after.

What should I check on the day?

The name on the rental agreement should match the licence. The car should match what you booked. There should be a proper inspection with a signed record of existing marks. If any of those three is missing, stop and ask why.

Choosing a company: questions people ask

How do I know if a car rental company in Dubai is legitimate?

Ask for its trade licence number and verify it with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. The company name, activity and status should match what you were told. A legitimate company will share the number without hesitation.

Which car rental company in Dubai can I trust?

Trust the ones that let you check. Najd Rent a Car publishes licence number 532541, its address in Al Quoz Industrial Area 3, the names and photos of its team and its rates. It has traded since 2002 and is rated 4.8 out of 5 on Google from 23 reviews as of October 2026.

Is it safe to pay a rental deposit in Dubai?

Yes, with a licensed company and a written agreement stating the amount and the refund period. Get a receipt in the company’s legal name.

Should I choose the cheapest rental company?

Not on price alone. Compare the full terms. A slightly higher rate from a company with clear terms and a long record usually costs less in the end.

What are the warning signs of a bad rental company?

No licence number, no office address, pressure to pay in full immediately, refusal to put terms in writing and no inspection at handover.
